One of my favorite things to do in New York City a One of my favorite things to do in New York City and it only costs $6! But seriously, the @theseaglasscarousel in Battery Park is a downtown Manhattan staple and one that not everyone knows about. Definitely add this to your NYC itinerary.
Have you heard about the rooftop lounge in Powell Have you heard about the rooftop lounge in Powell everyone keeps talking about? We had date night at the new @lanirooftop the other night (our second time there) and it did not disappoint. My only regret is that we didn’t also order the Caesar salad because it’s my favorite, but we absolutely did not have room to order anything else. The Harissa Roast Cauliflower was our favorite this time, but there was not a bad bite to be found. And if you’re looking for a NA beverage, they have a great list of refreshers or you can ask the bartender to make you something off menu. Speaking of the bartenders, they’re fantastic and I highly recommend sitting at the bar if you want a different vibe or it’s not patio weather outside. Save this one for your next Columbus night out! @visitdelohio @visit_powell @experiencecolumbus #columbusohio #cbusfoodscene #cbusfoodbloggers #lanirooftop #delawareohio

Finally got around to checking out @hulihulidownto Finally got around to checking out @hulihulidowntown’s new location in Columbus. It’s much smaller than their Powell location, but the same vibes and great food and drinks are there. Prep all your toppings ahead of time, then when you’re in need of a quick dinner, let the kids choose their favorite mashed potato flavor and top to their hearts’ desire. Our current obsession is adding chicken nuggets, black beans, corn, shredded cheddar and bbq sauce for a little southwestern loaded potato bowl. But the possibilities are endless and with everyone building their own, they can make it exactly how they want it. This trip felt incredibly important. My grandmothe This trip felt incredibly important. My grandmother turned 104 this past weekend, her sister turning 100 not too long ago, and the loss of their brother and sister-in-law (both over 100) earlier this year. I hope we have them both for years to come, but I’m also so grateful that my kids have had the chance to build memories with them. It’s easy to think there will always be another visit, but this weekend was a reminder to soak up every moment you can and to always, always be willing to listen to that one story for the millionth time because they love sharing it.

Baby prep, holiday chaos and enjoying family moments at Culver’s

We hit 34 weeks on Saturday. 34 weeks of pregnancy. That means that there’s only six (or less!) weeks left until we meet our sweet girl. I honestly have no idea how the last several months just flew by. It seemed like we had all the time in the world and then *poof*, our due date is fast approaching.

Holiday season is always crazy for us anyway, before you even add in baby girl’s arrival. Since she’s due right around Christmas, we’re trying really hard to balance the time we have left as a family of four with the holiday hustle and bustle. So in addition to all the baby things like packing a hospital bag and installing the car seat, we’re also trying to do things like:

– Squeeze in one last family holiday trip
– Do all the family holiday activities, like photos with Santa and checking out holiday light displays around town
– Create some special family memories together with the boys
– Holiday baking
– Get all our gift shopping done early

It’s a lot, I know. And I’m sure it will be crazy per usual. But I also want to really make the most of these last few weeks together before baby sister arrives. So while we’re busy trying to fit it all in, we’re also trying to create some moments of calm where we can just step away from all the holiday chaos. And our favorite place to do that is Culver’s.

Culver’s is a great place to take a break from the busyness of the holidays, whether it’s after a trip to the zoo to see the holiday lights, or in between a busy day of Christmas shopping. It’s also a great dinner option when we’ve spent all day baking Christmas cookies and don’t feel like cooking at home. They serve a variety of items, so everyone can find something they want. And trust me, that is such a big deal when you’re going out to eat with kids.

Their Value Baskets include fries and a drink, making meals easy. The boys love the chicken strips from Culver’s and the Value Baskets usually give them plenty of food to fuel up on and a little leftover for another snack or meal. And if you have room, you can’t miss out on one of their Concrete Mixers. I’ve also been known to swing by Culver’s for a scoop of Fresh Frozen Custard depending on the flavor of the day. Because #pregnancycravings.

We even make it a point to stop at Culver’s when we travel. Our family has a favorite location that is the perfect place to stop on the way to Nana and Papa’s house in Michigan. We can always time the drive just right for lunch and it gives us a chance to get out of the car and stretch our legs. Culver’s warm hospitality makes it a family-friendly restaurant. So whether the kids are tired and grumpy from being in the car for a few hours or have extra energy to burn off, I know that we’ll feel perfectly welcome at Culver’s.

What’s even more exciting is that you can visit your local Culver’s (or your nearest location if you happen to be traveling) between now and December 29th and receive a coupon for a free Value Basket when you purchase $30 in gift cards. That’s a meal you can enjoy now and gift cards your family can use later or give to someone on your holiday gift list. I’m a multi-tasker, so I like the idea of being able to take a break with my family and still check something off my list at the same time.

Growing up, Culver’s was the place I could get together and connect with friends. I love that Culver’s is still the place where our family can come and unwind after a day full of holiday cheer. I imagine we’ll soon be creating some new memories here as a family of five, but for now, the four of us are certainly enjoying our time together.
