I’m convinced this is the best screen free activ I’m convinced this is the best screen free activity you could ever do with your family. My kids love watching the birds out at our bird feeder, so we added a second one to the backyard. Bird feeding is an incredible low cost hobby that teaches about birds and nature, how to care for animals, and honestly is bringing so much joy to our day.Check out @projectwildbird to learn more about all the bird feeding basics and where to find your local birding stores. Also, with Mother’s and Father’s Day coming up they have a great spring gift guide up on their website!@wildbirdfeedinst #ProjectWildbird #WBFI #BirdFeeding #BackyardBirds
Just a gentle reminder: while big, elaborate gathe Just a gentle reminder: while big, elaborate gatherings, brunches and gifts can be nice on Mother’s Day, it’s also just a day on the calendar. Celebrating on a different day doesn’t take away from honoring you as a mom. Sharing the holiday with a mom or a mother in law or other family doesn’t make it less. If making plans for this weekend is stressing you out, it’s totally okay to do something lowkey instead. And if we’re really being honest here, moms deserve to be honored and celebrated more than just one day of the year. The “just because” flowers are always way more special than any big Mother’s Day bouquet IMO.

There’s really no easier way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and Taco Tuesday.Find @delrealfoods at Costco, Walmart and other grocery stores near you.

Cantwell Cliffs: it’s a one mile rim + one mile gorge trail with several ways you can make it shorter, but I highly recommend the whole thing. It’s rated difficult for the steep terrain and steps, but still kid-friendly IMO. It also feels a little less traveled than some of the more popular hikes and all the little waterfalls along the trail are worth discovering.Trailhead: 13640 OH-374, Rockbridge, OH@myhockinghills #hockinghills #hockinghillsstatepark #hikingwithkids #ohiohiking #hikingtrail

Dreaming big and setting goals: working with Huntington Bank to make it happen

Goal setting with Huntington National Bank
The hubs and I have always been pretty good about setting goals for our family. Whether personal, financial, or both, we work hard to make them happen. I’m so thankful that we have parents who stressed the importance of knowing how to manage our money. As newlyweds, we were rocking the heck out of the envelope system and had every penny of our tiny income accounted for in a spreadsheet. Our little emergency fund paid for health insurance and rent during a season of unemployment. Eventually, we were able to buy our first home, pay for Jamie’s college tuition and then start investing towards our future as our family grew. It hasn’t always been easy or perfect, but I’m grateful for the life we’re building.

Financial planning for a growing family - Huntington Bank
A big part of our financial journey has always been the people who’ve educated, equipped and supported us along the way. We may be a little older and life may be a little crazier sometimes, but we still have big goals and dreams. And since our family is experiencing some major changes in the near future, this is the perfect time to announce some news I’ve been keeping to myself for a little while (besides the baby, of course!):

I’m so excited to share with you that I’m going to be working with Huntington Bank as a brand ambassador this year!

Huntington is so much more than simply a place to do your banking. In the spirit of full disclosure, I should tell you that I’m a newly-minted account holder with Huntington. Although I’d heard about them before, I didn’t know what I was missing out on before Huntington reached out about working together. Their personal bank accounts for instance have some amazing features. Remember those trusty envelopes we were using way back when? Now we can have our whole envelope system organized inside our bank account and even get alerts* when we’re nearing our limits each month.

But what really surprised me at Huntington are the people. Who they are. Why they do what they do. And how important every single customer is them. Huntington invited me out to their headquarters in Columbus back in May for their Brand Ambassador Summit.

I could tell you about our tour of the first Huntington Bank location (which was a cool little piece of history) or give you some stats about how much they’ve grown over the years. But honestly, that’s not really what matters most tat Huntington. We heard story after story about how Huntington is doing things differently. Pushing back against traditional banking and committing to doing things a little bit differently – looking out for people. Understanding that finances aren’t a one-size-fits-all formula and taking the time to create services that are as unique as we are.

Goal setting with Huntington National Bank
What they’re doing at Huntington is far more than just banking. And I’m totally here for it.

We also got a chance to preview their new brand commercials at the Summit. These commercials are about real people and real stories. Maybe it’s the pregnancy hormones, but I get super emotional every time I watch these commercials. (The one with the jars gets me every time). Especially now that I’ve met some of the Huntington team….they really care about people. What’s important to my family is important to them and it shows in everything they do.

So over the next year, I’ll be sharing about how Huntington is helping our family work towards our goals:

Our house hunt continues, although now we know that we definitely need space for at least three kids instead of two and a budget that goes along with it.
We’ll likely be joining #TeamMiniVan sometime before the baby is born, which wasn’t originally in our plans. But hey, that’s what makes life exciting.
We’re still saving up for another adoption, because you never know what life may bring.
Saving for trips, because there’s a great big world out there and not enough time to see it all.
Investing and planning for retirement so we can enjoy the life we’re creating.

I know – it’s a lot. We dream big over here, in case you didn’t notice. And I know big goals like these typically don’t come to fruition overnight, but we’ll get there. I’m excited about working towards these goals with Huntington and sharing with you how they’re helping us along the way.

But what about you? What questions do you have about finances or saving? What can I help you with during my relationship with Huntington?
