I’m convinced this is the best screen free activ I’m convinced this is the best screen free activity you could ever do with your family. My kids love watching the birds out at our bird feeder, so we added a second one to the backyard. Bird feeding is an incredible low cost hobby that teaches about birds and nature, how to care for animals, and honestly is bringing so much joy to our day.Check out @projectwildbird to learn more about all the bird feeding basics and where to find your local birding stores. Also, with Mother’s and Father’s Day coming up they have a great spring gift guide up on their website!@wildbirdfeedinst #ProjectWildbird #WBFI #BirdFeeding #BackyardBirds
Just a gentle reminder: while big, elaborate gathe Just a gentle reminder: while big, elaborate gatherings, brunches and gifts can be nice on Mother’s Day, it’s also just a day on the calendar. Celebrating on a different day doesn’t take away from honoring you as a mom. Sharing the holiday with a mom or a mother in law or other family doesn’t make it less. If making plans for this weekend is stressing you out, it’s totally okay to do something lowkey instead. And if we’re really being honest here, moms deserve to be honored and celebrated more than just one day of the year. The “just because” flowers are always way more special than any big Mother’s Day bouquet IMO.

There’s really no easier way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and Taco Tuesday.Find @delrealfoods at Costco, Walmart and other grocery stores near you.
Might be my favorite Hocking Hills hike we’ve do Might be my favorite Hocking Hills hike we’ve done yet. Cantwell Cliffs: it’s a one mile rim + one mile gorge trail with several ways you can make it shorter, but I highly recommend the whole thing. It’s rated difficult for the steep terrain and steps, but still kid-friendly IMO. It also feels a little less traveled than some of the more popular hikes and all the little waterfalls along the trail are worth discovering.Trailhead: 13640 OH-374, Rockbridge, OH@myhockinghills #hockinghills #hockinghillsstatepark #hikingwithkids #ohiohiking #hikingtrail

GreenPaxx Reusable Silicone Straws | Review

It’s a smoothie kind of morning over here. These are some of our favorite kinds of mornings. Liam loves smoothies because I sweeten them with different kinds of fruit. And I love them because it’s a great way to get some extra vegetables and fiber into his diet. Because everyone knows that toddlers aren’t usually the best eaters. Liam actually won’t touch a leafy green unless I hide it in something and smoothies are the easiest way to do it. We recently discovered GreenPaxx’s reusable silicone drinking straws and they’ve been such a fun addition to our smoothie routine. They send us a few straws for free to try out and review and I’m excited to share our thoughts with you.

These GreenPaxx straws are a patented proprietary design, so if you feel like you’ve never seen anything like these before – you’re right! The straws come in two pieces. Which doesn’t seem like a big deal at first. But let me tell you why this is cool. You can actually take the curved part of the straw off and add it to the bottom of the second straw. This lets you add a few more inches to your straw if you’re using a larger cup. Pretty cool, right? It fits cups up to 10 inches tall.

It’s also great because when you’re ready to wash the straw, you can take the pieces apart. And the straw is wide and flexible enough that you don’t need any special tools to wash it. Up until we got our straws from GreenPaxx, Liam was drinking his smoothies in a cup that came with hard plastic straws. I’ve spend way too much time twisting a damp paper towel, pushing it down the straw, trying to clean out every last bit of smoothie residue. It’s hard work. With the GreenPaxx straws, I can just toss them in the dishwasher even. They’re so easy to clean!

I also love that these are metal and plastic free. I’ve been trying to reduce the amount of plastic we use, both for the environment and for our bodies. But I also don’t love the idea of using metal replacements everywhere either. Especially for things like straws. I love that these straws from GreenPaxx are made of soft food-grade silicone. And unlike metal, it won’t interact with important minerals either. It’s bitable, which is great when you have little ones drinking from them. But as an adult, you also won’t risk damaging your teeth if you’re using the straw while you’re driving or exercising.

You can use the straw in all kids of different cups. So Liam can use one in his sippy cup while my husband can use one for his post-workout drink in his large shaker cup. And because it’s made of silicone, you can use it for hot drinks like coffee or tea too.

Price-wise, $10.95 will get you four reusable straws. Which to me sounds like a really great price. Especially since you can order these straws directly from Amazon and if you’re a Prime member, that includes free shipping. Definitely worth it!

And since everyone’s always asking, my smoothie recipes are generally pretty simple. I usually blend:

1/2 banana
1/2 cup milk (we typically use almond milk because we’re mostly dairy free)
1/2-1 cup fruit (typically strawberries or mixed berries)
Giant handfuls of spinach until the blender cup is full

Sometimes I’ll even add in a tablespoon of peanut butter or a teaspoon of chia seeds.

Happy blending!
