Overnight diapers aren’t just for nighttime. As Overnight diapers aren’t just for nighttime. As a mom of four, they’re also one of my favorite mom hacks for taking little ones on the go. @huggies Overnites have up to 100% leak free and nighttime protection and are extra absorbent for uninterrupted sleep and comfort. All the naps in the car, stroller and carrier? Those are vital for surviving a long day out of the house with a baby and big siblings. And Walmart just launched a new pack size for about $20 making them even easier to add to your nighttime and on the go routine.#huggies #huggiesovernites

Costco snack challenge - think I can make it in an Costco snack challenge - think I can make it in and out and only buy @snackjacksons sweet potato chips? #sponsoredJackson’s Chip are my family’s favorite snack - they’re made only with avocado oil (no seed oils, ever), kettle cooked for the most amazing crunch, and the sea salt flavor only has three ingredients. Also, as a food allergy family, we love that Jackson’s is top 9 allergen free, so these are perfect for school, camp and sharing with friends. You can now find Jackson’s sea salt sweet potato chips at Costco Midwest 🙌🏻
If you’re looking for a family-friendly all-you- If you’re looking for a family-friendly all-you-can-eat buffet in Columbus, @thefeastbuffet has it all. Such a great variety of sushi, stir fry, dim sum, fruit, hibachi and pho, plus a rotating menu of kid-friendly favorites like mac and cheese, French fries and chicken nuggets. My picky eaters and more adventurous eaters can all find something they love to eat. Pricing for kids is based on height - kids under 36” are free and kids 36-55” are half price. We went for lunch, which was $16.99 and absolutely a great deal. Especially if you’re like us and feeding a family of six. Pricing for dinner and weekends is more, but you also get more seafood options and it’s still a really good price for the selection. 📍 2620 Bethel Rd, Columbus#columbus #columbusohio #cbusfoodscene #cbusfoodbloggers #cbusfoodie

We had the BEST day at the @childrensmuseum and I’m still surprised we packed so much in. The Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience was hands down our favorite. It’s 7.5 acres of outdoor experiences where kids can try out so many different sports in “my-sized” equipment. There’s basketball, baseball, tennis, soccer, football, track and field, and so much more. There’s even a pedal car racetrack and a giant sports-themed tree house to play in. Tiana’s Joyful Celebration was another favorite. The whole exhibit is themed for Mardi Gras season in 1928 New Orleans and it’s all so colorful and festive. You also can’t miss their antique carousel, revisiting nostalgic American pop culture, giant dinosaurs, immersing yourself in Peruvian culture, and their Playscape for the littlest museum visitors. My best advice is that if you only have one day, go early and fit in as much as you can. But if you’ve got two days to spend at the museum, you can definitely pace it better and revisit some of your favorite activities from the first day! Indianapolis is only a few hours from Columbus, making the Children’s Museum the perfect extended day trip or excuse for a weekend getaway. I love a good opportunity to recreate an old image I love a good opportunity to recreate an old image and the space under the Fireworks of Glass Chihuly sculpture at @childrensmuseum might be my favorite spot. Rocksbox: What’s Inside | Subscription Box Review

February 19, 2016      favorite things, for the mamas      2 Comments

This blog post may contain affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

Many of you don’t know that in college, I spent a few years working with a direct sales jewelry company. It was my way of earning some extra cash on the side while fully stocking my jewelry cabinet with all my party samples. After getting married and working my first “big girl” job, I quit. It was no longer for me, as I was tired of all the driving required since we now lived in a large metropolitan area, and because I wanted to enjoy my relationships with my friends and co-workers as…friends and co-workers instead of a pool of potential customers. Even though I’ve long since exchanged my sparkly earrings for yoga pants appropriate for chasing around a toddler, I’ve missed my ever-revolving door of jewelry to pick from. So when an opportunity came up to give Rocksbox a try, I couldn’t wait to see what I’d been missing and share a little Rocksbox review. If you’re intrigued like I was, there’s even a code at the bottom of this post you can use to get one month free as a trial.

What is Rocksbox? It’s a monthly subscription box that gives you designer fashion jewelry to wear with no obligation to buy. When you first sign up,  you’re assigned a stylist. As you set up your style profile, you can tell her about the jewelry you like to wear, what types of activities you would typically wear jewelry for, your overall fashion style, etc. You also get the chance to look through Rocksbox’s catalog of jewelry and mark specific ones that draw your attention for your wish list. As soon as you sign up, your stylist begins choosing the items for your fist shipment. And then it arrives. Isn’t the packaging pretty?

The inside paperwork include a title note from your stylist where she lists the items in your box and how much the items are if you’d like to purchase them. Not in love? That’s okay. Keep the jewelry as long as you’d like and then send it back with a prepaid label and wait for your next box to arrive. Thinking about keeping something? Your Rocksbox subscription comes with a $10 “Shine Spend”, or credit, you can put towards a jewelry purchase each month. Either way, you can send back your box for a new one as many times you want during the month. If you’re like me and have a hard time committing (hence why I don’t think I could ever get a tattoo), this revolving jewelry stash is simply perfect.

I love all the pretty blues.

The big statement piece was this big Rayna necklace in turquoise from Kendra Scott.
rocksbox_littlefirebrigade_6

At first, I found it a little intimidating because it was felt a little showier than I typically wear. When I put it on, though, I really liked it. It’s a long necklace, which I love, and I loved the pop of color against the gold. I enjoyed wearing it for a night out, but as pretty as it is, I didn’t think I’d wear it often enough to justify the purchase. Verdict: Love, but not to keep.

The earrings were two-stone drop earrings in turquoise and moonstone by Ashiana London. I don’t wear earrings often because I have a nickel allergy and earrings, even hypo-allergenic ones, will irritate my ears after an hour or two of wearing them. But I’m always willing to wear them for a date night or girls’ night out. When I do wear earrings, I typically opt for long, thin, dangly ones. The rounder stones were a big change (at least for me) from that, but I was very surprised at how great they looked when I was wearing them. They also went perfectly with the necklace. Verdict: Love, but not to keep.

The third item in my box was another necklace – a dainty cress shimmer lariat by Gorjana. So, so pretty. It was my favorite item right out of the box. However, once I wore it a couple of times, I found myself wishing that it was a longer necklace because of how it fell on my collarbone. I also didn’t like how, when wearing a lower-cut shirt, the necklace was harder to keep straight. Verdict: Like, but not love.

Overall, I was pretty impressed with what came in my first box. I didn’t know what to expect, but now I’m looking forward to seeing what else my stylist send me. The prices seem very reasonable too, so I have no doubt that if I completely fall in love with sometime, I might have to spend a little of my clothing budget on something pretty. 🙂

Interested in seeing what all the hype is about? You can use the code littlefirebrigadexoxo to get one month of free Rocksbox to try it out for yourself.
