I’m convinced this is the best screen free activ I’m convinced this is the best screen free activity you could ever do with your family. My kids love watching the birds out at our bird feeder, so we added a second one to the backyard. Bird feeding is an incredible low cost hobby that teaches about birds and nature, how to care for animals, and honestly is bringing so much joy to our day.Check out @projectwildbird to learn more about all the bird feeding basics and where to find your local birding stores. Also, with Mother’s and Father’s Day coming up they have a great spring gift guide up on their website!@wildbirdfeedinst #ProjectWildbird #WBFI #BirdFeeding #BackyardBirds
Just a gentle reminder: while big, elaborate gathe Just a gentle reminder: while big, elaborate gatherings, brunches and gifts can be nice on Mother’s Day, it’s also just a day on the calendar. Celebrating on a different day doesn’t take away from honoring you as a mom. Sharing the holiday with a mom or a mother in law or other family doesn’t make it less. If making plans for this weekend is stressing you out, it’s totally okay to do something lowkey instead. And if we’re really being honest here, moms deserve to be honored and celebrated more than just one day of the year. The “just because” flowers are always way more special than any big Mother’s Day bouquet IMO.

There’s really no easier way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and Taco Tuesday.Find @delrealfoods at Costco, Walmart and other grocery stores near you.
Might be my favorite Hocking Hills hike we’ve do Might be my favorite Hocking Hills hike we’ve done yet. Cantwell Cliffs: it’s a one mile rim + one mile gorge trail with several ways you can make it shorter, but I highly recommend the whole thing. It’s rated difficult for the steep terrain and steps, but still kid-friendly IMO. It also feels a little less traveled than some of the more popular hikes and all the little waterfalls along the trail are worth discovering.Trailhead: 13640 OH-374, Rockbridge, OH@myhockinghills #hockinghills #hockinghillsstatepark #hikingwithkids #ohiohiking #hikingtrail

Wundercub + A Giveaway | Meet the Maker

This blog post may contain affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

I don’t think I’ll ever get a tattoo. It’s not because I don’t like them, because I do. I have several friends who have some beautiful ink and I’m envious that they’ve found artwork they can commit to long-term. In our house, though, we love us some temporary tats. Liam’s obsessed and we usually can’t just stop with one. I try to limit him to just a few so that our supply lasts longer, but occasionally we’ll end up with a whole sleeve. That’s why I’m SO excited to introduce you to Lindsay Lane, owner of Wundercub, which sells educational temporary tattoos. She and her husband started their shop last year and although they’re based out of Minneapolis, their tattoos can be purchased online and in retail locations around the world. How cool is that? Make sure you enter our giveaway at the bottom of the interview to win two free packs of tattoos, your choice. Lindsay has also generously given me a discount code to share with all of you as well!

wundercub_educational_products_1Tell us a little about yourself and where you got the idea to start Wundercub?
I am a stay-at-home-mom with a degree in art education, and my husband (Anthony) works full time as an art director for Target and a freelance graphic designer running his own studio on the side.

Wundercub began when our little cub Nigel turned 2 in January 2015. It started when we noticed Nigel had a fascination with temporary tattoos. Coincidentally, this happened right around the time his language was starting to develop. As is with most kids, Nigel has an innate love of discovering, naming, collecting and identifying his favorite things. His interest turned into an obsession and one tattoo—on more than one occasion—ended up leading to to a full sleeve of tattoos. We noticed how he would curiously examine, touch, and talk about them. It was then that we realized these temporary tattoos could be a learning opportunity. But we weren’t satisfied with the design or subject matter of the temporary tattoos that were wundercub_kids_educational_products_4available. This is why we created Wundercub. Our temporary tattoos are designed with learning in mind, and with a care about the quality of design and subject matter.

How did Wundercub get its name?
We call our kids ‘cubs’ pretty often, so that was a word that kept coming up for the name. Wunder means miracle in German, so combining that with cub was a perfect fit!

Wunder = Miracle
Cub = A small person

wundercub_kids_educational_products_2Who/what inspires you?
Our kids are an obvious inspiration. Nigel really helps us to decide on tattoo ideas and is the best tester we could ask for. His fascination with space sparks daily conversation in our house, so the space pack was perfect for him and so many other kids dream of becoming an astronaut. Not only do our kids inspire us to create our product, they push us to do well in whatever we decide to try. Whether it be a new hobby, a career change or the family business, we want our kids to see their parents enjoying what they do!

What are the best and hardest things about being your own boss?
The best thing about being my own boss is the flexibility. I am able to work during naps and after the kids go to bed. The most challenging thing is that there are not enough hours in the day to do as much work as I would like to be doing! Slow and steady wins the race, eh?

What advice would you like to share with other women entrepreneurs? wundercub_kids_educational_products_5
I wish someone would have told us just how awesome Kickstarter really is. We knew we wanted to raise funds and get the word out about Wundercub, but we had no idea how successful our campaign would be. We reached our goal and sent tattoos to 9 countries!

Outside of Kickstarter, there are so many women starting or growing a business that are happy to help other women! Don’t be afraid to reach out!

What’s your favorite item from your shop?
That’s tough. The food pack is always special because it was our first. I also love the potty pack (stars) because it is such a fun and creative potty training tool!

What’s next for Wundercub?
Many more tattoos! We have a long list of future tattoo packs and are always open to suggestions!

wundercub_kids_educational_products_3What show(s) are you watching right now?
The Bachelor always wins on Monday nights. 🙂

See the amazing tattoo packs from Wundercub over on their website at wundercub.com and give them a follow on Facebook, Twitter and on Instagram at @wundercub. Thank you, Lindsay, for chatting with me this morning!

Now how about another GIVEAWAY? Entering is really easy and the winner will receive two FREE packs of tattoos, winner’s choice. Just head over to the giveaway image on my Instagram page at @LITTLEFIREBRIGADE and follow the steps to enter.

The giveaway will run until Friday, April 15th at midnight EST. A winner will be chosen randomly using random.org and announced on Instagram within 48 hours of the giveaway end. The winner has 24 hours to claim the prize or another winner will be chosen. This giveaway is open WORLDWIDE.

Also, if you want to score a pack of tattoos (or even one of each) for your little to try, you can also use the code “LFB20” for 20% off your order until April 16.

If you’re new to the blog, the Meet the Maker series is where I get to introduce you to some of the makers, creators and artists behind some of my favorite brands and companies. These women entrepreneurs (often mom-preneurs) are not only turning their passions into successful businesses, but they’re also helping and inspiring others to embark on their own creative journeys as well. If you are interested in being interviewed for a Meet the Maker post, please send me a message. I’d love to hear from you!

    Loving the series and this shop! I’m a tattoo lover myself and have several. My daughter loves putting stickers all over herself like tattoos so this is a great idea! I won’t have to worry about them falling off and my 10 month old eating them!
